First Steps

The Sunar Cotton Ginning and Rice Mill was established, laying the foundation for Sunar Yatırım.

1976

Sunar Özlem

Sunar Özlem Flour Mill was founded.

1985

Sunar Mısır

Production of starch and starch-based products has begun.

1987

Hüseyin Nuri ÇOMU

Our Honorary Chairman, Hüseyin Nuri Çomu, began working full-time at Sunar Yatırım after graduating from the Department of Business Administration at Boğaziçi University’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

1990

Elita Gıda, First Steps

The foundation for Elita Gıda was laid with the commissioning of an oil production unit at the Sunar Mısır facilities.

1997

Sunar Özlem Feed Mill

The Sunar Feed Mill was commissioned by Sunar Un ve Yem.

2006

NÇS Agriculture

NÇS Tarım was established for the production and sale of fresh fruit.

Elita Gıda

Elita Gıda, one of Turkey’s leading fully integrated facilities for the production of vegetable oils, was established.

2007

Grand Service Award of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey

In recognition of his social responsibility initiatives, Mr. Nuri Çomu was awarded the “Grand Service Award of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

2008

Sunar Yatırım

All companies have been brought together under the Sunar Yatırım Group.

2010

Sunar Marketing

Sunar Marketing was established to manage the group companies’ international trade operations.

Elita Gıda on the ISO 500 List

Elita Gıda, one of the Sunar Group companies, entered the ISO 500 list of Turkey’s industrial giants.

2011

Exports

Exports to 60 countries surpassed the $100 million mark.

2012

Elita Gıda Investments

By increasing its refining capacity, Elita Gıda has become one of Turkey’s largest vegetable oil production facilities.

2013

Sorbitol Plant

Sunar Mısır’s sorbitol plant has begun production.

2014

Sunar NP

Sunar NP was established to produce Turkey’s first certified biodegradable TPS (thermoplastic starch) and biopolymers.

Cogeneration Plant

A cogeneration plant was commissioned to meet the electricity needs of the rapidly growing group of companies in a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner.

2015

Maltitol Plant

A maltitol production facility operated by Sunar Mısır has begun operations.

2016

Sustainable Sunflower Farming

Using the first sustainable sunflower farming practices implemented in Europe and Turkey, our country’s first sustainable sunflower oil was produced.

2018

Turquality Brand Incentive Program

The Sunar brand has been included in the Turquality Brand Support Program by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey.

Sunar Mısır R&D Center

The Sunar R&D Center has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey.

Cogeneration Plant Capacity Expansion

The cogeneration plant was converted into a combined heat, power, and steam plant (trigeneration plant) by increasing its capacity.

2019

Solar Panel

Sunar Yatırım’s first renewable energy investment, a solar power plant (SPP), has been completed and put into operation.

2020

Solar Power Plant (SPP) Capacity

The capacity of the solar power plant (SPP) has been doubled.

2021

Elita Gıda Crushing Capacity

Elita Gıda’s crushing capacity was increased 2.6-fold.

Sunar Mısır Production Capacity Expansion

Sunar Mısır increased its production capacity for liquid sorbitol, modified starch and dextrin.

2022

Commissioning of Sunar Un ve Yem’s Konya Feed Mill

Sunar Un ve Yem’s Konya Feed Mill was commissioned.

2023

Sodium Gluconate, Dextrin and Modified Starch Plants Were Commissioned

The sodium gluconate, dextrin and modified starch plants were commissioned.

Sunar Agro Has Begun Operations

Sunar Agro was established to engage in agricultural commodity trading and supply raw materials to global customers.

2024

Sunar Un’s Osmaniye Plant Was Rebuilt

Sunar Un’s Osmaniye Plant was rebuilt and began production at twice its previous capacity.

Investments in Sunar Lidaş Commenced

Investments in Sunar Lidaş were initiated to support licensed warehousing operations.
