R&D Center

SUNAR has placed “R&D” activities at the foundation of its 5-year growth strategies.

SUNAR R&D Center has been approved by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology.

Through its R&D activities, Sunar has achieved a more competitive position in national and international markets by focusing on value-added products; it climbs higher in the national economic rankings each year and contributes to foreign exchange inflow by increasing its export volume.

With the new products and formulations developed, it has begun serving different sectors addressed by starch-based products. For instance, sectors such as cosmetics, chemicals, personal care, pharmaceuticals, and construction have opened doors to new markets for Sunar as a result of R&D activities.

Established in May 2018, the Sunar Mısır R&D Center employs chemical and food engineers with undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as researchers from basic sciences, supported by strong laboratory and technical infrastructure. The Sunar Mısır R&D Center continues its activities at the Adana campus with the goal of increasing the market share, profitability, and brand perception of all group companies both today and in the future.

With the awareness that R&D activities are highly likely to turn into concrete outputs through collaborations formed with external partners, our researchers develop joint projects with various universities, public institutions, and research institutes both domestically and abroad.

In our R&D Center, we produce “value-added innovation” alongside fundamental scientific research activities. In this regard, we have numerous completed and ongoing projects supported by TÜBİTAK incentives.

SUNAR R&D Strategy: To closely monitor global and industry developments, to produce products tailored specifically to customer needs and expectations, and furthermore, to support closing the import-driven current account deficit through domestic production by developing pioneering, value-added new products that do not yet exist in Türkiye.

Sunar, a leading organization in agriculture and food, produces Sorbitol and Maltitol—low-calorie natural sweeteners—as a result of its R&D studies.

The primary goal is to reduce foreign dependency (imports) in the production of Sorbitol and Maltitol, which are polyols. By carrying out the local production of high-tech imported products in compliance with international quality standards, Sunar lowers costs for manufacturers and serves the 2023 targets through R&D studies aimed at closing the current account deficit. Known for its activities in the food and agriculture sectors, Sunar has also been continuously developing its product portfolio in recent years to serve industries outside these fields.
