Elita Gıda, a Sunar Yatırım company and the first organisation to implement a sustainable agriculture model in sunflower production in Türkiye, has successfully passed the FSA (Farm Sustainability Assessment) audit conducted by the SAI Platform (Sustainable Agriculture Initiative). Stating that they support sustainable agriculture in corn cultivation as well as sunflower production, Mustafa Nuri Çomu, Chairman of the Board of Sunar Yatırım, said: “This season, we collaborated with 47 farmers practising sustainable production for our sunflower supply and seven farmers for our corn supply. While providing training on good agricultural practices, efficient irrigation methods, waste management and energy conservation, we also supported our producers through soil analyses and field applications.”
Sunar Yatırım’s farmer-friendly sustainable agriculture model, which has been implemented for the past 10 years, has received international recognition. Sunar Yatırım is one of Türkiye’s leading organisations operating in the agriculture, food and bioindustry sectors. Elita Gıda, the first company in Türkiye to implement sustainable agricultural practices in sunflower production under the umbrella of Sunar Yatırım, successfully completed the FSA (Farm Sustainability Assessment) audit conducted by the SAI Platform (Sustainable Agriculture Initiative). During the 2025 season, the company ensured that sunflower production across 9,490 decares and corn production across 2,824 decares were carried out in compliance with international sustainability standards. Emphasising that they have made their production processes more comprehensive and systematic each year, drawing on a decade of experience in sustainable agriculture, Mustafa Nuri Çomu, Chairman of the Board of Sunar Yatırım, said: “Last year, we expanded our sustainable agriculture network by adding corn production to our sunflower programme. This season, we collaborated with 47 large-scale sunflower farmers and seven large-scale corn farmers, supporting them at every stage. Successfully passing the FSA audits demonstrates that our production complies with international sustainability standards and meets demanding criteria. Through this approach, we are increasing agricultural productivity while leaving future generations a safe and sustainable food supply.”
A Farmer-Friendly Sustainable Model
Emphasising that Elita Gıda, a Sunar Yatırım Group company, provides comprehensive support to the farmers from whom it sources its products regarding sustainable agricultural practices, Mustafa Nuri Çomu, Chairman of the Board of Sunar Yatırım, said: “While providing training on good agricultural practices, efficient irrigation methods, waste and storage management, improvements to harvesting processes and energy conservation, we also supported our producers through soil analyses and field applications. Through these comprehensive efforts, we enabled farmers to fulfil the requirements of sustainable production.” Mustafa Nuri Çomu also stated that raw materials obtained through sustainable agriculture are used in Sunar-branded cooking oils carrying the “sustainable agriculture” label, adding that they maintain their commitment to sustainability throughout every stage of delivering Sunar products to consumers.
The FSA (Farm Sustainability Assessment), whose audits Elita Gıda successfully passed, is recognised as an international standard that measures environmental, social and economic sustainability in agriculture. The programme expects producers to achieve high levels of compliance in areas such as soil health, water management, biodiversity conservation and farmer well-being.
