Hacı Nuri Çomu, who laid the foundations of Sunar and inspired today’s corporate structure with his vision, was born in Osmaniye in 1935. As the son of a family originating from Malatya Darende, he grew up as the child of a draper known for his honesty, diligence, and commitment to national and moral values.He completed his primary and secondary education in Osmaniye and graduated from Adana Boys’ High School. After graduating from Ankara University, Faculty of Agriculture as a Senior Agricultural Engineer, he began working in the agricultural sector. Vision Extending from Soil to Industry
In the early years of his professional life, he gained his first experiences in the industrial sector by serving as a manager at the Akdeniz Spinning Mill alongside his father-in-law, Mehmet Nuri Sabuncu. By establishing the Sunar Ginning and Paddy Mill in 1974, Hacı Nuri Çomu laid the foundations of Sunar Investment. in the following years, he led the regional development of agro-based industries by undertaking significant investments in the flour, feed, starch, and oil sectors. A philanthropist who left a mark not only in the business world but also in the field of social responsibility, Hacı Nuri Çomu built or contributed to the construction of mosques, schools, bridges, and hospitals in Adana and Osmaniye, and provided scholarship support to countless students. Due to these services, he was honored with the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Distinguished Service Award, presented by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.The Hacı Nuri Çomu Foundation, established in 2018 and bearing his name, has carried his philanthropic vision into a corporate structure, continuing to keep this legacy alive through its activities in education, health, and social aid. Hacı Nuri Çomu, who passed away on December 15, 2020, successfully combined farming, industrialism, and management throughout his entrepreneurial career of over half a century; he is remembered as a pioneering figure who led the development of agro-based industry in Turkey.
